Follow Friday - The Original Twilight Zone Television Show Ran for 156 Episodes

It's Friday again, and this means it's time for Follow Friday. There has been a slight change to the format, as now there are two Follow Friday hosts blogs and two Follow Friday Features Bloggers each week. To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. Follow both of the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts (Parajunkee and Alison Can Read) and any one else you want to follow on the list.
  2. Follow the two Featured Bloggers of the week - Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh My! and Journey Through Fiction.
  3. Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say hi in your comments.
  5. Follow, follow, follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "Hi".
  6. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the love . . . and the followers.
  7. If you want to show the link list, just follow the link below the entries and copy and paste it within your post!
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday Hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
And now for the Follow Friday Question: Share! Tell us about one of your hobbies that is NOT reading.

My most significant hobby other than reading is gaming. And by gaming I mean tabletop gaming - both tabletop board gaming and tabletop role-playing gaming. I am currently the game master for a regular role-playing campaign, specifically a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The redhead and I host regular gatherings of our friends for board gaming days where we play games like Settlers of Catan, Firefly, Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, Galactic Emperor, Pandemic, Shadows Over Camelot, Small World, Cards Against Humanity, and many others. The redhead and I went to Gen Con last year, a convention dubbed "the best four days in gaming", and will be going again this year.

Tabletop gaming is a fantastic social hobby, because you need other people to do it. Although there are a handful of board games (and at least one role-playing game I know of) that one can play solo, you usually need to have at least two, and often more people to play a tabletop game. So you get something like three to six friends together, put a board game or a collection of role-playing books in front of them, and then the fun begins. I understand that people who don't play games can have social lives, but I'm not sure how.

  1. My parents made a terrible mistake in letting a four year old watch The Twilight Zone. I've never recovered.

    1. @Julia Barrett: Four does seem a bit young. On the other hand, four seems too young to get a lot of the creepiness of many of the episodes, so maybe your problem is that you were terribly precocious.

  2. I am not a gamer but sometimes wish I was. :)

    1. @Nikita Johri: My two step plan for becoming a gamer - (1) go and get a game, (2) play the game with friends. Presto! You're a gamer.
